Dr. Shirin Amlani, DO

Dr. Shirin Amlani earned her undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, a master’s degree in preclinical science at Mercer University in Macon. Ga., and her medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Ga. She completed her family medicine residency in the Cahaba-University of Alabama Birmingham Family Medicine Residency program in Centreville, Ala., and a fellowship in faculty development at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Dr. Amlani, who is board certified in family medicine, sees patients for all types of primary care. In addition to her board certification, she holds certificates in basic life support and advanced life support. She speaks Gujarati and Hindi.

Her major clinical interests include preventive health, screenings, women’s health and empowering patients to take charge of their health. Among her skills are IUD insertion and removal, long-acting reversible contraceptive implant insertion and removal, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, splinting and casting, incision and drainage, skin biopsy, wound care, joint injections, laceration repair, osteopathic manipulative treatment, opioid addiction treatment and prenatal care.

Her approach to care centers on meeting patients where they are, empowering them to learn more about their bodies and developing a treatment plan that helps them achieve their goals for quality of life. Her patients say she really cares about them, listens and takes time to figure out what is really going on.
