A native of Pasadena, Texas, Dr. Shelley Ferrill earned her undergraduate degree from Baylor University and her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She completed her residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville.
Dr. Ferrill, who is board certified in family medicine, has been in practice since 2001. Her primary clinical interests include adolescent health, diabetes, blood pressure, lipids and women’s issues. She is especially interested in disease prevention and preventative care, including annual exams; cardiovascular, cholesterol and cancer screenings; immunizations; and diet and exercise.
A key part of her approach to care is identifying the underlying causes of health problems, a step that she believes leads to less testing, less medicine and a faster rate of recovery. She also works to develop strong patient relationships and create a team approach to care, which helps patients understand why she recommends some treatment approaches and not others.
She wants her patients to see her as an empathetic physician who hears them and who is present for them at every stage of life.
Dr. Ferrill is married and the mother of two adult children. Away from her practice she enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and the outdoors.
