Dr. Shannon Cox, MD

Dr. Shannon Cox earned her undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and her medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Cupecoy, Sint Maarten. She completed her residency in family medicine at Baldwin Health in Foley, Ala.

Dr. Cox, who is board certified family medicine, sees patients age 6 and older for wellness visits, chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure and acute illnesses such as respiratory infections.

Her special clinical interest is in helping her patients stay healthy and avoid problems before they start through preventive medicine. In addition to her board certification, she holds certificates in basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and advanced cardiovascular life support.

Dr. Cox wants her patients to see her as a physician who genuinely cares about them, takes time to listen and explains things in a way they understand. She also wants them to know that someone is in their corner ready to cheer them on to happier and healthier lives.
