After finishing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Nigelle Pinto-Adigun earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica. She completed her residency at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J.
Dr. Pinto-Adigun, who is board certified in family medicine, sees patients of all ages for acute conditions such as ear pain, abdominal pain and chest pain evaluation, as well as chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine to keep patients as healthy as possible and, for those with chronic conditions, to treat exacerbations or prevent progression of the disorder.
Her approach to care centers on helping a patient understand what the disease is and how to treat it, as well as answering the questions of family members, since they provide the patient’s primary support. Patients, she says, often feel like numbers, but she works to avoid that by taking time to listen to them and address their concerns. An important part of her practice, she believes, is educating patients on how lifestyle impacts health.
Dr. Pinto-Adigun is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
