Dr. Anita Santpurkar, DO

Board-certified family medicine specialist Dr. Anita Santpurkar earned her undergraduate degree in neurobiology at The University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree at William Carey College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She completed her residency in the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency program in San Antonio.

In addition to board certification, Dr. Santpurkar holds certificates in basic cardiac life support (BCLS), advanced cardiovascular life support, (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and advanced life support in obstetrics (ALSO). She sees patients of all ages. Her clinical interests include all aspects of family medicine, women’s health, lifestyle medicine and mental health. She can provide a range of OB/GYN services, including pap smears and well-woman checks, allowing her patients to see one primary care provider instead of two.

Dr. Santpurkar’s patient-centered care is built on a team model, an approach she feels works much better than dictating what patients should do. She considers their current health status and where they would like to be, then works with them to reach their goals.

Being a family medicine physician allows her to see generations of patients--from newborns to seniors. She feels lucky to have the opportunity to build meaningful and enduring connections, to be a part of families and to really make a difference.
