Dr. William Yao, MD

Dr. William Yao graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in physiological sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his medical degree at the University of Colorado Health Science Center School of Medicine in Aurora, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he was recognized with the Resident Teaching Award. He subsequently completed a fellowship in rhinology and anterior skull base surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School.

Board certified in otolaryngology, Dr. Yao has clinical interests that include chronic sinusitis, endoscopic sinus surgery, revision endoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic orbital surgery, anterior skull base surgery and advanced sinonasal endoscopic surgery.

Dr. Yao’s patient philosophy is to provide up-to-date, evidence-based clinical care to each patient. He takes as much time as needed to explain his patients’ medical conditions in an understandable way, so they have a better understanding of their treatment options. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art tools for better and more improved delivery of medical care. He treats patients of all ages and speaks Japanese.

A member of local, state, national and international medical societies, Dr. Yao is the co-author of chapters in Head and Neck Surgery and ENT Secrets. He has also co-authored numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including The Laryngoscope, International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology, Ear, Nose and Throat Journal, American Journal of Medicine and Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery. He has a strong interest in education including the development of teaching instruments for residents.

A resident of Houston’s Inner Loop, Dr. Yao enjoys golf, skiing, reading and basketball in his spare time.
