Dr. Tarek Fakhouri earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and completed an internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His residency training was at Wayne State University’s Oakwood Hospital, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit Veteran’s Administration Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at the Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, Alabama.

Board certified in dermatology and Mohs surgery, Dr. Fakhouri has practiced in the Houston area since 2014. Previously, he served as an assistant professor and director of Mohs surgery at Wayne State University in Dearborn, Michigan. He was named a Top Doctor by H-Texas Magazine and one of Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors Rising Stars. During his internship at St. Joseph Mercy Health, he earned the “Chief’s Award" from the Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Fakhouri treats patients of all ages. His primary clinical interests are skin cancer prevention and treatment, Mohs surgery, medical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology. He has performed more than 5,000 skin cancer surgeries during his career.

Because Dr. Fakhouri believes that relationships are built on mutual respect and trust, he treats his patients like family members. He makes every effort to show them that their time is valuable and their concerns are valid.

Dr. Fakhouri, who lives in Houston, is married and has one son.
