Dr. Kavina Juneja was born in India and grew up in Singapore and the United States. She earned a dual undergraduate degree in biochemistry and kinesiology at Rice University and her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she completed her internship and residency in general surgery, followed by a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care.
Board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Juneja has been in practice since 2016 and treats patients ages 16 and older. She specializes in caring for acutely injured trauma patients, from initial hospital presentation through critical care and operative needs. Her primary clinical interest includes treating emergency general surgery patients using a full range of surgical techniques including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She also speaks Hindi.
A strong advocate of delivering empathetic, evidence-based surgical care to a diverse patient population, her background gives her the cultural sensitivity to establish genuine rapport with a transnational base of patients and colleagues.
