Dr. Umoh returned to the United States, where he graduated with a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Dr. Umoh went on to complete a general surgery residency program at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He then obtained subspecialty training as part of a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Georgia Colon & Rectal Surgical Associates (GCRSA) in Atlanta.
Double board certified in colorectal surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS) and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS), Dr. Umoh specializes in the management of all aspects of colon and rectal surgery, including benign and malignant diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus, and uses minimally invasive surgical techniques to manage complex colon and rectal problems. In addition, he treats some general surgical diseases, particularly abdominal hernias and gallbladder disorders.
Dr. Umoh has authored several publications in respectable peer-reviewed journals. He has also presented research findings at both national and international conferences some of which include American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) Meeting and the World Cancer Congress.
He is a Fellow of ASCRS and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In addition, Dr. Umoh is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) and the Delta Omega (?O) Honorary Society in Public Health (Alpha Chapter).
