Dr. Mohamed Almahmoud, MD

Dr. Mohamed Almahmoud earned his medical degree at the University of Aleppo Faculty of Medicine in Syria. He completed his internship at SUNY Downstate-American University of Beirut, his residency in internal medicine at St. John Hospital and Medical Center-Wayne State University in Detroit. After residency, he earned a Master of Clinical and Population Translational Science at Wake Forest University and was designated as a T32 National Institutes of Health cardiology research fellow at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, participating in NIH-conducted clinical trials, where he served as clinical investigator for hyperlipidemia multi-center clinical trials. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Almahmoud is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography and nuclear cardiology and is a registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI). In practice since 2010, he treats adult patients ages 18 and older and also speaks Arabic.

His primary clinical interests are chest pain, shortness of breath, arrhythmia, palpitations, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, angina, peripheral artery disease, structural heart disease, mitral valve disease and aortic valve stenosis.

Patients compliment Dr. Almahmoud on his great bedside manner and providing thorough explanations of the cause of heart problems and how to address them.

He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Almahmoud is married and the father of three children. Away from his practice, he enjoys sports, traveling and art.
