Dr. Long Cao, MD

General cardiologist Dr. Long Cao is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular imaging, hyperbaric medicine, wound care and aesthetic medicine. He treats patients of all ages and speaks Vietnamese and Spanish.

Dr. Cao earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Baylor University and his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a fellowship, which integrated clinical, nuclear, echo, vascular and invasive non-interventional cardiology, at the East Carolina Heart Institute of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dr. Cao sees the heart as a house, complete with plumbing (the vessels that feed the heart), electrical (the system that generates electrical impulses and distributes the signal) and even doors (the valves). He carries the analogy through his focus on prevention, emphasizing to his patients that keeping a heart healthy is better than having to deal with a “fixer-upper.”

He approaches care in a holistic way, treating the entire body more than just the heart itself. He also combines Eastern and Western practices—from lifestyle changes and herbal medicine to medication and interventional procedures—to produce outcomes best suited to the individual patient. He wants his patients to see him as an approachable person they trust and think of him as family, which, he believes, is the best possible compliment.
