Dr. Gloria Hui, MD

Dr. Gloria Hui earned an undergraduate degree in zoology at the University of Hawaii and her medical degree at the University of Hawaii Medical School. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by a fellowship in invasive and non-invasive cardiology at the Texas Heart Institute-St. Luke’s Hospital, where she was chief cardiology fellow.

Dr. Hui is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. She is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Cardiovascular Interventionists.

While her primary clinical interest is preventive cardiology, she sees patients with high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, arrhythmia and congestive heart failure. She is also interested in the differences between how women and men present with cardiovascular disease, as well as in improving quality of life and longevity for patients with congestive heart failure. She performs coronary angiogram, coronary stenting, pacemaker implantation, and transesophageal echocardiogram.

She focuses on educating patients about the disease process, helping them prevent worsening of a condition, working to improve longevity and quality of life and exploring new ways of treating their disease. She believes that education is key to better outcomes, because understanding a condition and what can be done about it motivates a patient to follow a treatment plan more carefully.
