Advanced practice provider Tauna Gilder completed an associate degree in nursing from Lone Star College before earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
A board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP), Tauna’s primary clinical interests are employee health and occupational medicine. In addition to board certification and licensure as a family nurse practitioner, she holds certificates in basic life support (BLS). She is also certified by the Drug Enforcement Agency to prescribe routine medications and by the Department of Transportation to administer DOT physicals.
As a nurse practitioner, Tauna began her career in critical care. Her nursing and nurse practitioner experience includes primary care, intensive care (ICU) and intermediate medical (IMU) units, cardiac telemetry and acute and chronic health maintenance.
Tauna’s approach to patient care is largely influenced by her desire to treat each patient as she would want her family or herself to be treated. She takes time to listen to the concerns of her patients and wants them to feel that they receive exceptional care. Offering appropriate, up-to-date education and treatment options, she empowers each patient to make informed decisions and take an active role in their care. Most rewarding to her is seeing positive outcomes in her patients and watching them get back to doing the things they love.
In Tauna’s free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, learning about personal finance and—occasionally—binge-watching a really good series.
