Shantae Johnson, MSN, AGPCNP-BC

Shantae Johnson is a board-certified adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner (AGPCNP-BC). She earned her undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Michigan-Flint, followed by a master’s degree at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied in the Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program.

Her registered nursing background includes hospital nursing, acute care and occupational health and wellness, and as a nurse practitioner, she has specialized experience in urology and oncology. Her primary clinical interests are men’s health and geriatrics. Among her skills are percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, cystoscopy with stent removal, heparin bladder instillation, urine microscopy, suprapubic and indwelling catheter management, BCG intravesical instillations and androgen deprivation therapy, as well as prostate, bladder and renal cancer management. She also is experienced in treating patients for chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy toxicities.

Shantae became a nurse practitioner to be more closely involved in how her patients are cared for. Because she believes that a trusting patient-family-provider relationship influences positive health care outcomes, she wants her patients to feel comfortable and have confidence in her decision-making skills. She finds satisfaction in knowing she has offered her patients the most up-to-date information regarding their diagnoses, along with the latest technology and best treatment options to improve their health and overall quality of life.

She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates.

In her leisure time, Shantae, a resident of Katy, enjoys reading crime novels, going to museums and watching documentaries about World War II.
