Advanced practice provider Marina De Jesus, who is board certified in adult and gerontology critical care, has experience in cardiac intensive care and trauma-surgical intensive care. Among her primary clinical interests are cardiology and adult care.

Marina earned a bachelor’s degree in ecology, evolution and behavior at The University of Texas at Austin and a second bachelor’s degree in nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Nursing. She completed her master’s degree in nursing-acute care adult gerontology nurse practitioner at Texas Woman’s University in Houston. In addition to her board certification, she holds certificates in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.

After growing up surrounded by family members in the medical field, a career as a health care provider felt like a natural fit. Her relatives’ dedication and passion for helping others inspired her to do the same, allowing her to have a meaningful impact on people's lives and contribute to the well-being of her community.

Building trust and fostering meaningful relationships is at the heart of Marina’s approach to patient care. She focuses on providing compassionate and personalized care to support patients throughout their health journey, treating each as a member of her own family. Her goal is to help them better their quality of life by improving their heart health and overall well-being.

She wants her patients to see her as a good listener who truly hears their concerns, cares deeply and treats them with kindness and compassion. She wants them to feel that she is empathetic and understanding, not only with their medical needs but also their emotions, fears and hopes.

Because each day brings new opportunities to solve complex problems, Marina’s favorite part of practicing medicine is its balance between being highly challenging and deeply rewarding. To her, one of the greatest rewards is the privilege to help patients and their families during some of their most vulnerable moments.

In her free time, Marina loves to travel, with its opportunities to open her eyes to new cultures, food and adventures. She also enjoys riding her bike, reading books, dancing and birdwatching, which allows her to connect with nature.
