Katy Finney, MS, RN, AGACNP-BC

Advanced practice provider Katy Finney completed undergraduate degrees in nursing and health at Texas A&M University before receiving her master’s in adult/gerontology acute care nursing practice from Texas Woman’s University.

A board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, Katy’s primary clinical interest is seeing adults in both in- and outpatient settings. She has earned certification in fundamental critical care support, critical care nursing, basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner in 2015, Katy was an intensive care RN for five years. She has extensive experience caring for cardiothoracic and vascular patients; administering and monitoring conscious sedation for procedures such as bronchoscopies, colonoscopies and endoscopies; and managing patients who require continuous renal replacement therapy. She is also skilled in intubation and ventilator management and central line, quinton catheter and arterial line placement.

Katy was drawn to health care by her desire for a challenging career that would allow her to help people. Her approach to care emphasizes developing good relationships and being an active listener to understand patients’ goals and needs. She wants her patients to know that she cares about them and advocates for them. The most rewarding parts of practice for her are developing relationships and impacting her patients’ lives in a positive way.

In her leisure time, Katy enjoys reading, spending time with her family, playing with her children and traveling.
