Julie Thomas earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Houston and her doctorate in family nursing practice from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

A board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP), Julie has practiced in hospital, clinic, emergency and occupational medicine settings since 2001. She is a licensed registered nurse and holds certificates as a Department of Transportation medical examiner and in basic life support (BLS). She speaks basic medical Spanish.

Julie’s primary clinical interest is in health promotion and disease prevention. She was initially drawn to the medical field because she loves to see people improve their health, and, as a professional, she enjoys being part of life-changing transformations that enhance health and wellness. She uses education to empower individuals to achieve optimal health and wellness in body, soul and spirit. A careful listener, she wants her patients feel heard and understood.

In her leisure time, Julie enjoys traveling, choral and ensemble singing and finding every opportunity have fun and laugh. She has participated in medical missions to Mexico, Nicaragua and India.
