Advanced practice provider Carley Gibson is a board-certified physician assistant who specializes in cardiology. She also holds certificates in basic life support and advanced cardiovascular life support.
Carley earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
Her primary clinical interests are heart failure, coronary artery disease and preventive cardiology, and her clinical experience includes working with adult post-LVAD (left ventricle assist devices) and post-heart transplant patients in intensive care, inpatient and outpatient settings. She enjoys working with patients to optimize their medical management and improve quality of life while helping them navigate complex cardiovascular conditions.
An older sister with congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), inspired Carley to enter the medical field. Seeing the impact that compassionate and knowledgeable healthcare providers had on her sister’s quality of life shaped her desire to pursue a career where she could care for others, support families through complex medical situations and be a steady, empathetic presence—just like the providers who made such a difference for her sister.
Her approach to care is patient-centered, compassionate and collaborative. She believes in taking the time to educate patients about their conditions, which empowers them to be active participants in their care. She strives to build trust and ensure every patient feels heard, valued and well informed.
She wants her patients to see her as approachable, attentive and genuinely invested in their wellbeing and to feel that she listens carefully, explains things clearly and advocates for them every step of the way. Her greatest professional satisfaction comes from building relationships with patients and their families, and she finds it incredibly rewarding to guide people through their health journeys and celebrate their progress along the way.
Carley is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Texas Academy of Physician Assistants. In addition to her clinical work, she is also interested in mentoring physician assistant students and supporting their clinical development in cardiology.
In her spare time, Carley enjoys spending time with her family, including spoiling her two nephews, staying active outside with her dog, going to Pilates and solving puzzles.
