Dr David Callender CEODr. David L. Callender, MD, MBA, FACS

President & CEO

In his role, Dr. Callender is responsible for leading the System’s more than 34,000 employees, 6,400 physicians, and over 250 care delivery sites – including 17 hospitals and numerous specialty programs and services.

Dr. Callender has been recognized by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s “Most Admired CEOs” and for the second consecutive year was named by Modern Healthcare as one of “The 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.”

Dr. Callender is a tenured Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health). He serves on the Board for The United Way of Greater Houston and is a member of the University of Houston’s Board of Visitors.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Dr. Callender served as President of UTMB Health for 12 years. Other previous roles include Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer for the UCLA Hospital System and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Dr. Callender received his medical degree from and completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He also completed an oncology fellowship with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and earned an MBA from the University of Houston.

Feby Abraham headshotDr. Feby Abraham

EVP, Chief Strategy Officer

Dr. Feby Abraham joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2020 as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer.

In his role, Dr. Abraham is responsible for leading strategic planning initiatives for the organization to drive its strategic investments, corporate development, strategic market insights and innovation efforts.

In 2023, Dr. Abraham was named as one of Modern Healthcare’s “Top 25 Innovators to Know,” and recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as a “Chief Strategy Officer to Know,” an honor he received in 2022, as well. Dr. Abraham serves on multiple boards across diverse health care and technology sectors.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Dr. Abraham served as a partner at McKinsey & Co., where he worked for nearly 12 years advising private equity funds across various sectors, including health care. His work has included corporate strategy in a disruptive environment, digital strategy and business value creation topics.

Dr. Abraham holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, India.

Erin Asprec joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2002 and is Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer.

Since joining Memorial Hermann, Erin has held several leadership roles within the Memorial Hermann Health System, including Chief of Acute Care Services and Chief Transformation Officer. In her current role, she leads the organization’s operations, service lines, clinical transformation and consumer experience providing executive oversight for all of its 17 hospitals and over 250 care delivery sites.

Erin has been recognized by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston's "Women Who Mean Business," named a 2023 “Chief Operating Officer to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review and selected among the "Most Powerful and Influential Women in Texas" by the National Diversity Council, among other honors. In 2023, she served as the chair of the Texas Hospital Association. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of THA’s Board of Directors.

Erin earned a master’s degree in health administration from Saint Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.

EVP, Chief Financial Officer

Alec King joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2020 as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer.

In his role, Alec is responsible for the organization's overall financial health, overseeing the business operations for its 17 hospitals and over 250 care delivery sites.

Alec has 20 years of experience in the health care financial sector. Immediately prior to joining Memorial Hermann, he served as the Chief Financial Officer at Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C, where he provided fiscal, operational and strategic leadership counsel. He also held multiple strategic financial leadership roles at Texas Children’s Hospital over a period of nine years.

In 2023, Alec was recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as both a “CFO to Know” and, along with Dr. David Callender, a “Highly Successful CEO-CFO Duo to Know.”

Alec is founder and board chairman of Camp Awesome Youth Camp in Buda, Texas.

He earned his master’s in business administration (MBA) from Stanford University and his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University.

Jamie McCarthy headshotDr. Jamie McCarthy

EVP, Chief Physician Executive

Dr. Jamie McCarthy joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2018 as Executive Vice President, Chief Physician Executive.

In his role, Dr. McCarthy oversees Memorial Hermann’s physician organization and leads efforts to further establish a physician-centric, integrated network of care across Greater Houston.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Dr. McCarthy served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UTHealth. As part of that academic affiliation, Dr. McCarthy also served as Chief of Emergency Medical Services at our Memorial Hermann-TMC Campus.

In the community, Dr. McCarthy serves as EMS Medical Director for the West University Place Fire Department. He also chairs the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council’s Cardiac Care Committee.

Dr. McCarthy completed his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He received his master’s in health care administration from the University of Providence. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services.

EVP, CEO, MH Foundation

Anne Neeson joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2016 as Executive Vice President, CEO, Memorial Hermann Foundation.

In her role, Anne leads the Memorial Hermann Foundation’s fundraising and planned giving programs, among other initiatives, with the goal of supporting Memorial Hermann’s legacy of high quality patient care, research and education.

Anne enjoyed a 30-year career at United Way of Greater Houston prior to joining Memorial Hermann in 2016.

In 2023, Anne was inducted into the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce’s Hall of Fame and named “Most Admired CEO of a Nonprofit” by Houston Business Journal. In addition to these honors, Anne has been recognized as one of the city’s 50 Most Influential Women by Houston Women’s Magazine and was selected as a Woman on the Move by Texas Executive Women. She also serves on the board of American Leadership Forum, Stewart and Joella Morris Foundation, the Wesley Community Center, the advisory board of the Children’s Museum of Houston and is an incoming board member for San Jacinto Girl Scouts.

Anne holds a bachelor's degree in management from Texas A&M University.

SVP, Chief Information Officer

Amanda Hammel joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2007 and is Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer.

Since joining Memorial Hermann, Amanda has held several leadership roles within the organization prior to being named Chief Information Officer in 2018. In her role, Amanda is responsible for leading the organization's information technology strategy, managing the implementation of technology systems and overseeing the IT department's daily operations.

In addition, she leads the development and execution of technology strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives, ensuring the security and privacy of patient health information.

In 2023, Amanda was named to Becker's Hospital Review’s list of Chief Information Officers to Know. She was honored as one of the "Women Who Mean Business" by the Houston Business Journal in 2022.

In 2019, Amanda was the recipient of the Transformation Leadership award given by CHIME (The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives) and honored as a distinguished alumnus by her alma mater, Austin College.

SVP, Chief Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Officer

Dr. Toi Harris joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2022 as Senior Vice President and Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer. Dr. Harris is also Executive Director of the Memorial Hermann Institute for the Advancement of Health Equity.

Recently, Dr. Harris was recognized with the 2023 Modern Healthcare Diversity Leader Award and appointed as a 2024 Industry Champion by the Greater Houston Partnership. She also joined the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Workgroup for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care in 2023 and will be named a Co-Chair for the DEI Group by the Leadership Institute in April 2024. She also serves as a Steering Committee Member for Vizient Equity.

Her leadership and initiatives continue to drive significant advancements in EDI, contributing to the betterment of community health and the system at large.

She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, followed by a psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. With over 25 years of experience in psychiatry, Dr. Harris is double board-certified in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.

SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer

Lori Knowles joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2011 and is Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. She was named CHRO in 2016.

In her role, Lori is responsible for Human Resources, Chaplaincy and Partners in Caring.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Lori was the Chief Operating Officer at RediClinic and throughout her career has held several HR roles at other notable health systems in Texas.

She has been recognized as HR Executive of the Year bronze Stevie award winner, a Leader of Distinction by HRO Today and as one of Houston’s “Women Who Mean Business” by the Houston Business Journal.

In the community, Lori serves on HR Advisory boards for the University of Houston and Rice University, as well as the Higher Education Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership. She is also President of the Houston Healthcare HR Association.

Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Minot State University and a master’s degree in organizational management from Capella University, as well as an executive leadership certification from Rice University.

Rob Mcstay headshotRob McStay

SVP, Chief Compliance Officer

Rob McStay joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2012 and serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer and Interim Chief Legal Officer.

Rob leads the Legal and Compliance Programs and oversees the Internal Audit functions for Memorial Hermann. In this role, he helps maintain the culture for Memorial Hermann to adhere to ethical standards and accountability. Rob has also served as a senior-level attorney leading the provider transactions group for Memorial Hermann.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Rob worked for a multi-state health care system where he was responsible for transactional and operational legal matters. Over his career, Rob has also worked as a criminal prosecutor and as a litigation attorney.

Rob is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Houston Law Center where he co-teaches a course on health care transactions, and is prior Board Chair for El Centro de Corazon, a Federally Qualified Health Center.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas, a Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law, a Masters of Law Admissions from the University of Houston Law Center, and an executive leadership certificate from Rice University.

SVP, Chief Nursing Executive

Bryan Sisk joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2022 as Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive.

In his role, Bryan works collaboratively with nursing leaders as well as clinical teams and physician partners to improve the nursing experience while advancing patient care, clinical practices, and organizational outcomes across the system.

Bryan is a regular speaker at industry conferences and is often cited as an expert on a range of nursing topics, such as strategic planning, leadership development, nurse well-being, as well as recruitment and retention within the profession. In 2023, he was named to Becker's Hospital Review’s list of Chief Nursing Officers to Know.

Bryan is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army and has spent much of his career working to improve medical care for military service members and veterans.

Bryan earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Northern Kentucky University and holds a Master of Public Health degree from Texas A&M University. Bryan is Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC), a Certified Executive of Nursing Practice (CENP), a Certified Mentor and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Bryan is active in several nursing organizations, including the American Nursing Association, Sigma Theta Tau, Texas Nurses Association, and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.

SVP, Chief Digital Officer

Eric Smith joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Officer.

In his role, Eric leads the system’s digital, data and analytics strategy with a focus on building personalized patient engagement at scale and leveraging multiple yet integrated channels with an eye toward encouraging patients to take a more active role in their health.

Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, he led Digital, Data/Analytics, Design and Innovation practices for USAA. Throughout his career, Eric has held technical and senior leadership roles within the federal government, consulting, and telecommunications industries.

A past member of the Army National Guard, Eric has served as a Veteran Career Mentor with American Corporate Partners and is a past Advisory Board Member for CTO Forum and a Technology Advisor for the San Antonio Food Bank. He is also a Board Observer for Truveta, a health care data collaboration aimed at advancing innovation in disease treatment and patient care. In addition, Eric owns numerous patents related to mobile capabilities, contact center technology, data, analytics and information storage.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from The University of Kansas and completed executive education coursework at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.

Amalia Stanton joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2006 and is Senior Vice President, Chief Strategic Communications and Marketing Officer.

In her role, Amalia oversees strategic communications, internal communications and external communications, as well as marketing and branding efforts for the organization. Since joining Memorial Hermann, she has played a significant role in driving growth and brand awareness, and helping to build the system’s reputation as a leading, trusted, high-quality health care provider in Greater Houston and across the nation.

More recently, Amalia was named to Becker's Hospital Review’s list of 2024 “Chief Marketing Officers to Know” and selected as a Top 20 Impact Maker Awards honoree by CKW LUXE Magazine. In 2023, she was honored as one of the “Women Who Mean Business” by the Houston Business Journal.

Amalia serves on the executive leadership team of the March of Dimes Houston Board of Directors and the Holocaust Museum Houston Advisory Board. She also co-leads the Memorial Hermann Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Community Council.

Amalia earned her master’s degree in public relations from Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communications and her bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, State University of New York, where she double majored in Politics, Philosophy and Law, as well as Spanish.

VP, Executive Chief of Staff

Alex Rodriguez Loessin joined Memorial Hermann Health System in 2005 and is Vice President, Executive Chief of Staff.

In her role, Alex supports the Executive Leadership Team with the development and execution of various business, strategic, leadership and operational plans.

Prior to taking on the Chief of Staff role in 2021, Alex served as Vice President, Corporate Communications for the System. Since joining Memorial Hermann, Alex has spearheaded successful internal and external communications campaigns and programs, created a new strategic path for internal and external communications to operate in a unified and consistent voice, and supported the development of recent cultural and strategic initiatives.

Alex has earned numerous awards from the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators. Most recently, Alex was named to Houston Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Class.

Alex earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) and bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from the University of Houston.
