TIRR Memorial Hermann, the No.2 ranked rehabilitation hospital in the nation, is expanding its world-renowned services to southwest Houston. The inpatient rehabilitation unit at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital has been transformed into TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest, bringing more patients the exceptional rehabilitation care that has earned TIRR Memorial Hermann its reputation as a leader in rehabilitation medicine.
This expansion—which will create greater access to care for patients and community members in Sharpstown, Gulfton, Meadows Place, Sugar Land, and communities beyond Houston’s southwest corridor—reflects TIRR Memorial Hermann’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of care for adults whose lives are disrupted by life-altering injury or illness. The newly enhanced rehabilitation program at Memorial Hermann Southwest combines cutting-edge facilities with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, aimed at helping patients regain functionality and independence.
“We are proud to bring the TIRR Memorial Hermann brand of excellence to this region,” said Malisha Patel, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Southwest and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. “Our goal is to deliver the exceptional standards and care that TIRR Memorial Hermann is known for, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible outcomes.”
The newly renovated rehabilitation unit at Memorial Hermann Southwest is designed to help patients achieve their goals of returning to independence. The new facility will include:
TIRR Memorial Hermann Southwest will offer a comprehensive range of services, including care for patients with stroke, non-traumatic brain injury, neurologic and neuromuscular disorders, as well as cancer rehabilitation and general rehabilitation services. The facility will also maintain its Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certification, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
The expansion of TIRR Memorial Hermann’s presence in southwest Houston is especially important as the region sees a growing population of older adults, many of whom may need rehabilitation services close to home. The location along the Highway 59 corridor ensures that patients and their families can access high-quality care without traveling far from home.
“We understand that rehabilitation medicine is key to bridging the gap between acute care and home,” said Rhonda Abbott, Senior Vice President and CEO at TIRR Memorial Hermann and the Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Network. “This alignment with TIRR Memorial Hermann means that patients will have access to a seamless continuum of care, from acute care through rehabilitation and outpatient therapy, all in one location. This transformation allows us to provide the best care possible, reduce hospital readmissions, and help patients regain their functionality and independence, getting them back to their homes and communities faster.”
