Sherif Zaafran, M.D., a board-certified anesthesiologist, has been named president of the medical staff at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. During his two-year term, Dr. Zaafran will oversee medical staff issues and monitor clinical quality at the hospital.
"Dr. Zaafran is active in and committed to this community," said Steve Sanders, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. "He also feels strongly that we must provide high quality and safe healthcare to every patient, every time. For these reasons and more, we know he'll make a great addition to our leadership team."

Dr. Zaafran was born in Paris, France and grew up England. He came to the United States in Junior High and went on to graduate from Clements High School in Sugar Land. Dr. Zaafran attended undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin and earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his residency in anesthesia, as well as a mini fellowship in cardiovascular anesthesia at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
In 1999, Dr. Zaafran joined Greater Houston Anesthesiology, where he currently practices. He is a member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.
