Nurses on Coalition Boards Event 2026Memorial Hermann Health System and Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC) have joined forces to improve the health of communities across the nation by empowering nurses to expand their impact beyond the bedside through service on executive boards and other leadership bodies.

“Memorial Hermann is proud to join Nurses on Boards Coalition as we continue our work to elevate the voice of nurses in shaping the future of health care,” said Bryan Sisk, senior vice president and chief nursing executive at Memorial Hermann. “Our nurses are trusted leaders whose insights strengthen our organization and the communities we serve. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting our nurses, advancing their influence, and ensuring our community benefits from their expertise at every level of decision‑making.”

In their first joint project, Memorial Hermann and NOBC recently hosted a one-day immersive board leadership workshop for more than 100 nurses at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.  The event provided valuable insight into board governance, and the role nurses can play in community and organizational boards; readiness for board membership and how to position themselves for service; personal branding strategies to help attract and secure board opportunities; and how board service extends nursing leadership and amplifies the voice of nurses in health care and community initiatives.

“Nurses on Boards Coalition is thrilled to partner with Memorial Hermann, an organization that truly recognizes the value of nurses as clinicians, leaders and change-makers,” said Dr. Cole Edmonson, CEO of Nurses on Boards Coalition. “Memorial Hermann’s commitment to elevating nurses’ voices and empowering them to serve at the highest levels of decision making aligns perfectly with our mission to improve health in communities. Together, we are strengthening health care governance and ensuring communities benefit from the insight, expertise, and leadership nurses bring to the boardroom.”

The partnership with NOBC complements Memorial Hermann’s nationally recognized nursing program that prioritizes professional engagement, career development, patient safety, workplace safety and employee physical and mental wellness across more than 280 care delivery sites.
