The Mischer Neuroscience Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of neurosurgeon Ryan S. Kitagawa, MD, to the medical staff, concurrent with his appointment as assistant professor in the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School.
Specializing in neurotrauma and critical care, Kitagawa brings expertise in the treatment of head and spinal cord injuries. Further, he will be involved in the treatment of spinal fractures.
Kitagawa comes to Memorial Hermann-TMC and UTHealth from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he served as a research fellow and completed his neurosurgery fellowship. A graduate of Northwestern University, he received his medical degree and neurosurgery training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In addition, Kitagawa participated as a member of research teams at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Northwestern University's Department of Biomedical Engineering.
