Memorial Hermann Health System has announced Michael (Mike) Roussos will be joining the organization as Senior Vice President, President of Academic Hospitals and CEO, Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center Campus, effective September 23, 2024.
Recognized for his ability to drive exceptional operational, quality and financial results in academic medical centers, Mike brings more than two decades of experience as a health care executive and administrator.

His operational expertise and deep experience in academic medicine are the perfect fit for Memorial Hermann as we work to create healthier communities now and for generations to come.”
Most recently, Mike served as President of VCU Medical Center, Virginia Commonwealth University Health (VCU Health), in Richmond, Virginia. As President of VCU Medical Center, Mike led record growth while collaborating with clinical provider leadership to create stronger alignment between the School of Medicine, MCV Physicians and the medical center through a shared vision and goals, driving academic and research partnerships as well as medical education.

Prior to joining VCU Health, Roussos served as the Hospital Administrator for University Health in San Antonio, Texas, where he provided executive oversight of the teaching hospital and premier Level I trauma center in South Texas. Earlier in his career, Mike held several roles within HCA, including Chief Executive Officer of HCA Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas, Chief Operating Officer of HCA Corpus Christi Medical Center and various other positions in Houston, El Paso and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Roussos earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.
