SUGAR LAND, TEXAS (May 13, 2016)

Sugar Land physicalsMemorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital is working hard to make sure our local athletes are in good physical condition before they attend their first practice of the season. As part of their commitment to several area athletic departments Memorial Hermann Sugar Land is currently providing physicals to thousands of junior high and high school athletes.

Recently a team from Memorial Hermann Sugar Land performed physicals for more than 600 athletes from Antoinette Reading Junior High School and George Ranch High School in the Lamar Consolidated ISD. So far, more than 1000 physicals have been completed with hundreds more scheduled.

“Our team enjoys working with our local athletes, getting to know them and providing them with the tools to stay in the best possible physical condition during the season,” says Rehal Bhojani, M.D., FAAFP, CAQSM, medical director of the sports medicine outreach program at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land.

During the next few weeks, Dr. Bhojani and his team will conduct physicals for Foster High School, Brazos High School and El Campo High School to name a few. “We’ve had very positive, long-standing relationships with many of these schools,” says Steven Ramirez, sports medicine coordinator, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. “Many of these students are the children of our friends, neighbors and co-workers. That makes providing this service to the community extra special for us.”

Last month, the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute opened on the campus of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. The Institute provides Sugar Land and the surrounding communities, access to a dynamic array of sports medicine experts and comprehensive testing and training for competitive and recreational athletes of all ages.
