Memorial Hermann Health System announced the appointment of Louis G. Smith, Jr. of Kingwood, Texas as Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. Smith assumed the CEO position on April 1, 2008.
Smith previously served as interim chief executive officer and permanent chief operating officer for Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. He joined Memorial Hermann in 2003 where his responsibilities have included The Spiritual Leadership Institute, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. In addition, Smith has more than 16 years in various healthcare organizations including hospitals and as president of one of the largest provider-owned managed care organizations in Georgia.
Smith earned his master's degree in healthcare administration from at the Medical College of Virginia - Virginia Commonwealth University. He also earned his bachelors degree in business administration from Mississippi College.
