“Quality improvement is a complex and demanding process,” said Kelly Ryan, Memorial Hermann Northeast Quality director, “but we have accomplished great things with the commitment of our staff and a focus on teamwork. The end result is better quality of care and better outcomes for our patients.”
The Texas Health Care Quality Improvement awards, based on achievements in 2012 and 2013, honor Texas hospitals that are performing quality initiatives aimed at improving outcomes in patient care by recognizing those hospitals that have improved their performance on specific national quality measures.
The criteria include quality data reporting measures as well as readmissions measures. All inpatient prospective payment system hospitals and critical access hospitals across the state were automatically included as participants in the non-competitive 2012-2013 program.
TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare quality improvement organization for Texas, manages the award program in association with the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals. The award program was established in 2004, and awards are presented every two years.
