HOUSTON (January 18, 2016)

Memorial Hermann has further expanded its high-quality orthopedic network with the opening of the Center for Advanced Orthopedics at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.

“The opening of the Center for Advanced Orthopedics underscores our commitment to providing the community with a well-established and wide-reaching network of orthopedic and joint replacement facilities and services throughout the region,” said Dan Wolterman, president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System.

The 90,000-square-foot facility, located in the Memorial Hermann Tower at 929 Gessner, offers high-quality, comprehensive and fully-dedicated orthopedic care to residents in the growing West Houston area.

Spanning four floors, the Center for Advanced Orthopedics houses:

38 inpatient beds 8 dedicated operating rooms15 pre-op beds21 post-op bedsA group physical therapy roomA dedicated conference center for patient and clinical educationAffiliated physicians can perform both in-patient and outpatient procedures in the Center, ranging from joint replacement and revisions, to surgery for knee, hip, foot and ankle, shoulder, and elbow bone and soft tissue conditions and injuries.

“We have taken an already well-regarded program to a new level,” said Paul O’Sullivan, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Memorial City. “Now, our patients can receive comprehensive orthopedic care – from pre-surgical education and registration to surgery and post-surgical care – in one stop. For patients with mobility issues, having the full spectrum of care in one location will take some of the stress out of treatment.”

The Center’s staff – from the affiliated board-certified physicians to the specially trained nurses and pre-admission employees – is solely dedicated to orthopedic patients, O’Sullivan said.

“They understand our patients’ concerns and can better anticipate their needs,” O’Sullivan added. “That translates to better, safer patient care.”

The Center joins Memorial Hermann’s robust network of orthopedic and sports services, including Memorial Hermann Orthopedic & Spine Hospital in Bellaire, three Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institutes and more than 30 sports medicine and rehabilitation centers.
