THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (July 30, 2013)

Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute in The Woodlands and Team Green Running today announced a new partnership that will ensure its post-collegiate athletes stay healthy on and off the track.

Team Green Running, a USA Track & Field (USATF) club sponsored by Adidas, is led by its founder Dan Green, former Head Coach of Track & Field and Cross Country at The Woodlands High School. Under Green's leadership the school won 16 State Championships and multiple individual State Titles.

"We're thrilled to partner with Team Green Running and its elite athletes," said Josh Urban, COO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. "Working together, we will provide state-of-the-art sports medicine and human performance services that will help propel these athletes - some whom may one day be Olympians - to an even higher level of success."

Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute will serve as the official sports medicine partner for Team Green Running. Under the leadership of team physician Alysia Robichau, MD, who is also affiliated with the Institute, athletes will receive injury assessments as appropriate and expedited access to a team of physician specialists and allied healthcare professionals.

"The Institute's team understands the importance of rapid injury diagnostics and treatment," Urban continued. "They will work in the athletes' best interest to enable a safe return to the sport."

Additionally, the Institute's human performance specialists will provide complimentary testing to help the athletes compete at their highest level. Services include performance testing, nutritional counseling, strength and conditioning and sports massage.

"We're excited to join forces with the IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute for many reasons," said Green. "For starters, Memorial Hermann is an established health system with a stellar reputation. The partnership - in addition to our affiliation with Adidas - brings credibility to Team Green Running.

"More importantly, the partnership gives our athletes access to elite care provided by the country's top sports medicine and human performance experts. Having a partner dedicated to the wellbeing of our athletes - specifically helping them to prevent injury, recover from injury and improve their performance - is invaluable."
