HOUSTON (February 12, 2014)

Memorial Hermann will usher in a “new and transformative” model of care delivery when the system’s second Convenient Care Center opens for patients in the Pearland area next week.

The 40,000 square-foot, one-stop center, which makes its debut Monday, February 17, is located at 16100 South Freeway, on the southbound side of Highway 288 near FM 518.

“The Convenient Care Center represents a new model of care for Memorial Hermann,” said Dan Wolterman, CEO and president of Memorial Hermann Health System. “It fits perfectly with the clinically-integrated, patient-centered medical home service that we are creating to more fully meet the healthcare needs of families in the Houston region and continue to position Memorial Hermann as a national leader in health for the future.”

The center is designed to take the stress out of scheduling appointments for routine health needs by offering families convenient options such as walk-in access, and extended evening and weekend hours. For non-routine and more urgent needs, the center will include a 24-hour, seven-day a week, state-of-the-art emergency department staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and emergency-trained nurses. Patients in need of higher levels of care would be transferred to Memorial Hermann Southeast, Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, or Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

“The system has seen much success at our first ever Convenient Care Center that opened in the Northeast part of Houston,” said Erin Asprec, Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital. “We are proud to open the second and bring this unique offering to the Pearland, Manvel, Alvin, and surrounding areas.”

“The Center will be an added value for families in this area,” Asprec continued. “The doctors and nurses who will staff the Center are some of the same professionals who have provided high-quality care to numerous families in this area for many years. The Center also will be able to call on the region’s top medical specialists and highly specialized services within the Memorial Hermann System.”

The center puts the focus back on the needs of the patient by better accommodating their schedules and calendars. With services such as Memorial Hermann’s online scheduling tool, ScheduleNow, patients can schedule and confirm appointments immediately with just a few clicks.
