HUMBLE, TEXAS (July 30, 2015)

Kingwood CCC ExteriorMemorial Hermann Health System has announced plans to build its seventh convenient care center and further expand high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the communities it serves. The 45,000-square-foot Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Kingwood is expected to be completed in fall 2016 and will join Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and the Memorial Hermann Summer Creek Convenient Care Center in serving the greater Lake Houston area.

“The residents of Kingwood and the surrounding area will have access to comprehensive round-the-clock medical care,” said Heath Rushing, Sr. Vice President and CEO at Memorial Hermann Northeast. “The overwhelming success of Memorial Hermann’s first Convenient Care Center at Summer Creek confirmed the public need for these innovative facilities. Providing convenient access to quality medical care throughout the Lake Houston area is our top priority.”

The two-story Kingwood Convenient Care Center will be located at Kingwood Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway, in the Main Street Kingwood Shopping Center. Lovett Commercial, the developer of the shopping center, will build the facility, which will provide one-stop, highly-coordinated access to adult and pediatric primary care, specialty physicians, sports medicine and rehabilitation, outpatient imaging and lab services, and a 24-hour emergency room.

“Lovett Commercial is excited to partner with Memorial Hermann on a project that benefits the community in so many ways,” said Burdette Huffman, Vice President of Lovett Commercial. “We are looking forward to building a first-class, innovative facility that will provide outstanding medical care for the people of Kingwood and the surrounding area for many years to come.”Memorial Hermann’s Convenient Care Centers are designed to take the stress out of scheduling appointments for routine health needs by offering families options such as walk-in access and extended evening and weekend hours.

“Our Convenient Care Centers provide safe, high-quality medical care that is easily available to the communities we serve,” said Keith Alexander, Sr. Vice President and President of the Memorial Hermann North Region. “We want to exceed our patients’ expectations with this new and highly-effective model of care.”

The Kingwood Convenient Care Center is modeled after sister facilities that are operational in Summer Creek, Pearland and South Katy, and facilities currently or soon to be under construction in Cypress, Sienna Plantation and Spring. Patients at the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Kingwood who need a higher level of care would be transferred to Memorial Hermann Northeast, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center or Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

“The Convenient Care Centers offer a direct channel to the entire Memorial Hermann Health System spectrum of sub-specialists and high-level resources, should a patient’s condition call for it,” Rushing said.

Construction of the Convenient Care Center in Kingwood is part of Memorial Hermann’s strategic growth initiative – Breaking New Ground – designed to meet current and future healthcare needs in the greater Houston region. The initiative also includes the construction of a medical campus in Pearland featuring a 64-bed hospital, and multi-million dollar expansions at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.
