Malisha Patel HeadshotMalisha S. Patel, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital, has been recognized by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC) as the 2023 Southwest Houston/Fort Bend Community Leader of the Year.

According to the GHWCC, regional community leaders from across Greater Houston are recognized for their dedication and support of women and girls in their communities and workplace, thereby opening doors for success.

“It is an honor to be recognized alongside such inspiring community leaders who work tirelessly to elevate and empower our female leaders of tomorrow,” Patel said.

Patel oversees the strategic development and daily operations for both hospital campuses, helping to execute on Memorial Hermann Health System’s vision to create healthier communities in Southwest Houston and Fort Bend County. Her passion is mentoring young women and she has been involved in many local programs and schools throughout the Houston area. She also serves on the board of the March of Dimes, whose mission is to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies, and close the health equity gap.

“I’m proud of this well-deserved recognition for Malisha,” said Erin Asprec, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Memorial Hermann. “Her dedication to helping young women become the next generation of great female leaders is a testament to her strong leadership skills and her passion for giving back.”

Patel received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University. She is an active member on several boards, including Trinity’s Health Care Administration Alumni Board, the Texas Hospital Association Foundation Board, and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston.
