Vish Kalapatapu, MD, has been named chief of staff at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. During his two-year term, Dr. Kalapatapu will oversee medical staff issues and monitor clinical quality at the hospital.

"He also feels strongly that we must provide high quality and safe healthcare to every patient, every time. For these reasons and more, we know he'll make a great addition to our leadership team."
Dr. Kalapatapu graduated with honors from Katy Taylor High School. As a high school student, he volunteered at Katy Hospital, which later became Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and then enrolled in the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He performed clinical rotations in Chicago and completed an internal medicine residency at Memorial Health Medical University Center in Savannah, Ga.
Dr. Kalapatapu became internal medicine board certified in 2001 and successfully built a practice for six years in Savannah, where he held key leadership roles that included serving as the vice chairman of the department of internal medicine. He returned home to Katy in 2007 to serve as a physician at Katy Internal Medicine Associates.
In 2010, Dr. Kalapatapu served as chief of staff at Memorial Herman Rehabilitation Hospital Katy. He has also served as the medical director of the West Harris County Emergency Medical Services District and is currently the medical director for Oakmont Nursing Home. He has been voted one of the top physicians in Katy by the readers of Katy Magazine.
