“Our Joint Center consistently benchmarks among the top orthopedic programs in the nation,” said W. Lin Jones, MD, an orthopedic surgeon affiliated with Memorial Hermann Southwest. “Each one of our patients is unique and important to us. Caring for them, even after discharge, and ensuring they are well and stay well, is part of our patient-centered model of care.”
In the last 10 years, 4,673 total knee replacements, 756 total hip replacements, and 823 partial hip replacements have been performed at Memorial Hermann Southwest.
The Joint Center is composed of an experienced team of affiliated orthopedic surgeons and specifically trained nurses, therapists, and support staff who specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery.
Stacey K. Martin, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in total joint replacement, joined the Joint Center in August as its new medical director.
“Making a difference in the lives of my patients is what I find the most rewarding about being a surgeon,” said Martin. “Seeing this same passion in all of the nurses, physical therapists, and staff at our Joint Center makes me feel enthusiastic about sending my patients through this program.”
Offering a full range of non-surgical and surgical options such as physical therapy, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, knee replacement revisions, total hip replacement, and hip replacement revisions, the Joint Center offers patients the opportunity to undergo the joint replacement process as a group – from pre-surgery education to post-operative rehabilitation.
Memorial Hermann Southwest is consistently in the 99th percentile for patient satisfaction and has been recognized with the Blue Distinction from Blue Cross/Blue Shield for knee and hip replacements. Along with many national awards for orthopedic and joint surgery excellence, the hospital was named among the nation's Top 100 Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics.
