Sunday’s weather provided a perfect backdrop for the Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital Spring Sprint Triathlon. A full field of 350 participants pushed through a 300 meter swim, 10 mile bike ride and three mile run.
“Fitness and promoting a healthy lifestyle are important to all of us at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land,” says Steven Ramirez, Sports Medicine Coordinator, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. “We’re proud to be part of this triathlon.”
The fun, family friendly event was filled with first time triathletes. “Out of our field of more than 300, about a third of them were competing in their first triathlon,” says Ramirez.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help support thirteen local charities in the Sugar Land area. A number of local health and fitness vendors also attended race day.
A big post-race party at the First Colony Aquatic Center offered up free stretching and massages to participants. There was also plenty of food and treats to help refuel weary participants.
The Memorial Hermann Spring Sprint Triathlon is part of a series of races sponsored by Memorial Hermann. The Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Try Andy’s Tri is the next race scheduled for Sunday, October 18.
