The Artery Explorer - a 3-D virtual tour mobile motion simulator - is coming to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital to continue the fight against atherosclerosis.
The Artery Explorer is a state-of-the-art, multisensory motion simulator that allows people to visualize the progressive build up of plaque inside the arteries known as atherosclerosis.
During their tour, participants travel through the human circulatory system on a winding journey as arteries become more restricted and blocked with plaque. The journey has participants encounter common risk factors such as bad cholesterol, high blood pressure and smoking. In the end, they collide with a blood clot demonstrating how atherosclerosis can result in a heart attack or stroke.
The Artery Explorer will be on the Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital campus on Thursday, Dec. 9, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., by the Life Flight helipad.
