Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital has achieved a new designation status for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery services as an accredited comprehensive center by Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The comprehensive care designation expands the weight loss services provided to the community.
“We are excited to be recognized as a comprehensive center. This expansion of weight loss services enables Memorial Hermann Cypress to better serve our community,” said Jerry Ashworth, SVP and CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital. “We are able to provide more complex procedures and surgeries to ensure we are meeting all of our patients’ needs.”
Memorial Hermann bariatric comprehensive centers provide services including gastric banding (lap band), gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, duodenal switch and bariatric revisions and reversals.
“Weight loss surgery can improve the health of patients who suffer from sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, and lead to a better quality of life,” said Dr. Brad Snyder, Professor of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and Memorial Hermann Cypress Director of Bariatric Surgery. “As a comprehensive center, we are able to expand upon the bariatric and weight loss services we already provide at Memorial Hermann Cypress. This designation allows us to perform more types of procedures for more patients.”
Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital joins five other MBSAQIP comprehensive centers in the Memorial Hermann system including, Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital.
