Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital marked a major milestone last week with a time-honored construction tradition- a topping out ceremony to celebrate progress on its $277.5 million campus expansion.
More than 200 hospital leaders and staff, community partners and construction personnel gathered to sign a beam that symbolizes the placement of the final structural beam atop the hospital’s new North Tower, the centerpiece of the expansion project.
“While this ceremony recognizes a significant construction milestone, it represents something much greater than steel, concrete, and brick. It is a celebration of the dedication, craftsmanship, teamwork, and unwavering commitment of the people who have brought this vision to life,” said Marci Holub, vice president of operations, Memorial Hermann Cypress. “Our new patient tower represents a bold investment in the future of healthcare for our region, significantly expanding our ability to provide exceptional, patient-centered care for generations to come.”
Key features of the expansion include:
- TIRR Memorial Hermann inpatient rehabilitation services, bringing award-winning rehabilitation care to the region
- 58 additional inpatient beds for a total bed count of 201
- An expanded Emergency Center, nearly doubling the current capacity and including eight dedicated pediatric emergency rooms
- An inpatient dialysis center
- Additional operating rooms, including a third dedicated OB operating room to support women and families
- An enhanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Obstetric Emergency Department
- Expanded pharmacy, laboratory, and sterile processing services
- Extensive renovations to the existing campus, including improvements to patient, visitor, and staff spaces throughout the main tower, kitchen, café, and dining areas.
In July, the campus opened a new catheterization lab equipped to treat both heart and vascular patients as well as neuro endovascular patients. Additionally, its highly-anticipated parking garage is now open, adding nearly 550 free parking spots to the growing campus.
