Carolyn S. Galloway, MPH, MD, FACEP, is the newly-named medical director of the Emergency Center at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.
As medical director of one of the busiest emergency centers in the region, Dr. Galloway recognizes the challenges - and opportunities - that the Northeast region faces.
"We are fortunate that Memorial Hermann Northeast is an accredited chest pain center and, as a hospital of Memorial Hermann, we also are part of the largest stroke care network in the region," said Dr. Galloway. "I am very impressed with the experience and dedication of our Emergency Center team. We are ready to meet the needs of the critically ill or injured patients throughout the Northeast region."
Prior to joining Memorial Hermann Northeast, Dr. Galloway served as chief medical officer for RediClinic, an operator of retail-based convenient care clinics with 32 locations in the greater Houston area, as well as locations in Austin, TX, Oklahoma, Virginia and Georgia.
Dr. Galloway has more than 30 years of experience as a physician with expertise in clinical health care, administration and education. She has served as medical director for community-based emergency departments as well as for Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, the tertiary care Level I trauma center affiliated with the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
She received her Master's degree in Public Health from The University of Texas-Houston School of Public Health and her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Following a general surgery internship in the Department of Surgery at UT-Houston, Dr. Galloway went on to obtain her board certification in Emergency Medicine while serving as an EMS medical director for numerous EMS providers. Dr. Galloway also attended the Rice University Executive MBA program.
"While my career has afforded me many exciting opportunities," added Dr. Galloway, "I have found my most fulfilling positions working in the community. I recognized many years ago when I was medical director of the Emergency Department in The Medical Center that Memorial Hermann is a stellar hospital system and they have given me the opportunity to return to community health care here in Humble."
