Amanda Hammel, senior vice president and chief information officer for Memorial Hermann Health System, was recently named one of the “2023 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
According to Becker’s, these top CIOs are adopting growth technologies and innovative strategies to enhance the patient and provider experience in their hospitals and health systems. The leaders named to this list are responsible for leading talented teams, guiding IT strategies, integrating new technologies, expanding telehealth, improving cybersecurity and more.
“I’m honored that Becker’s has recognized me together with colleagues across the country who are working to develop new and innovative strategies to improve the patient experience and deliver the best possible care,” Hammel said.
Hammel is responsible for leading the system’s information technology strategy, managing the implementation of technology systems and overseeing the IT department’s daily operations.

Under Hammel’s leadership, her team developed Everyday Well, an app that helps patients manage their health care by checking health records and test results as well as schedule appointments.
