This marks the second consecutive year that Hammel has received this recognition from Becker’s.

“Amanda’s leadership as CIO extends well beyond managing day-to-day IT activities to shaping the strategic direction of technology initiatives that align with system-wide goals,” said Dr. David L. Callender, President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System. “Her leadership in the Epic EHR transition, including our recent go-live of select locations and physician practices, has led to one of the largest and most impactful technological upgrades in our history."

In addition to the EHR transition, Hammel’s areas of focus include enhancing patient care and efficiency, using population health data to understand patient needs and implementing remote work systems to maintain productivity and employee satisfaction. She also advises on tech-driven partnerships and promotes gender diversity in health care IT through various professional, community, and non-profit leadership positions.
