Amanda HammelMemorial Hermann Health System proudly announces that Amanda Hammel, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 list of ‘Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know.

According to Becker’s, this recognition highlights IT leaders who are driving forward-thinking strategies that create meaningful improvements for both patients and providers. These CIOs are harnessing cutting-edge technologies to elevate the delivery of care through initiatives such as EHR upgrades, cybersecurity advancements and expanded telehealth offerings.

Hammel is a leader of one of the largest Epic transitions in the country, overseeing a $700 million rollout across 15 hospitals and 250 care sites to unify Memorial Hermann’s clinical, operational and financial systems. Her work has enabled immediate interoperability through Epic’s Care Everywhere platform, allowing the exchange of millions of records and improving care coordination across the Houston region. She has strengthened the system’s cybersecurity infrastructure by adopting the National Institute of Standards and Technology framework and implementing new disaster recovery protocols. Hammel is also advancing the use of AI in clinical settings and digital experiences, while championing IT’s role in population health, in-home care and health equity. She supports women-led health tech startups through her work on the IGNITE steering committee and is known for her leadership in mentoring the next generation of health IT professionals.

Hammel was also recognized by Becker’s in its 2024 list of 'Hospital and Health System CIOs Know.'
