Dr. Pedro Avila earned his medical degree at the University of Brasilia, Brazil, and completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. His fellowship training in allergy-immunology was at the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF).

Board certified in allergy and immunology, Dr. Avila spent 18 years on the faculty at UCSF and Northwestern University (NU) in Chicago. He directed the UCSF-Stanford and the NU Allergy-Immunology Fellowship Programs for 13 years, during which he supervised the training of 50 doctors. He has also been active in medical research, authoring or co-authoring more than 120 papers and book chapters on asthma, respiratory infections, allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis.

Dr. Avila has dedicated his career to allergy and immunology issues. He brings that expertise to patients and their families, educating them about the process of their conditions, prevention and treatment. With practical, effective options that take into account the individual’s healthcare needs, he gives them the best tools for self-management of acute and chronic symptoms.
