Dr. Matthew Mays, MD

An honors graduate of Southern Methodist University, Dr. Mays received his medical degree with high honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed his residency. He went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the prestigious Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

In private practice since 2008, Dr. Mays sees patients of all ages. His passion includes arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques that help speed the recovery process in everyone from the recreational athlete to the most elite professional athlete. He also treats patients with a wide range of shoulder, hip, and knee issues. As an additional service, Dr. Mays serves as the team physician for Bellaire High School athletic teams.

Dr. Mays is married and enjoys spending time with his wife, and son pursuing outdoor activities, including sailing, wakeboarding, hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing and running. A firm believer of the importance of giving back to others, he frequently volunteers for medical mission trips to Latin America.
