Dr. Manish Patel earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. He completed his residency in the Waco Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Patel, a board-certified family medicine specialist, sees patients age 5 and older. He treats chronic conditions including high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as acute illnesses such as respiratory illnesses and musculoskeletal aches and pains.
His primary clinical interest is preventative care, because he believes preventing a problem before it becomes an issue is the best way to help take care of long-term medical needs.
Active listening is the cornerstone of his approach to care. Listening helps him understand the patient’s health care goals, so they can work together to maximize the person’s health. He wants his patients to feel that they are heard, and that shared decision-making can optimize their quality of life.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Family Practitioners. In addition to his board certification, he holds a certificate in basic life support.
