Dr. Rachel Lee earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her residency in general surgery at Emory University in Atlanta and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Dr. Lee specializes in general thoracic surgery for adult patients. Her clinical interests include lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal masses, thymoma and thyme cancer, chest wall tumors, tracheal surgery, pleural diseases, pectus excavatum and carinatum, robotic surgery (including lobectomy and segmentectomy) and minimally invasive esophagectomy.

Her care philosophy is genuinely patient-centered. Prior to any surgery, she spends time teaching her patients and their families about their diagnoses, reviewing their imaging with them and making sure they are as informed as possible throughout the pre- and post-operative time periods.

She is an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Women in Thoracic Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery Club and Association of Women Surgeons.
