Caring for Your Child’s Cast or Splint

If your child is going home with a cast or splint, there are some important things you need to know before you leave the hospital. Please take a few minutes to watch the pediatric orthopedic physicians explain what you need to do to help your child heal at home.

The video includes instructions on proper elevation of the injured arm or leg, checking for good circulation in your child’s hand or foot and how to keep the cast or splint dry when bathing. The video also contains tips on what to look for to know when your child should be returned to the ER.
