Dr. Lucas Ribe Bernal earned his medical degree at the University of of Alcala in Madrid, Spain, and finished a vascular surgery integrated residence program at the Gregorio Marañòn University Hospital in Madrid. He completed a senior clinical fellowship and a research fellowship at St. Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare, in London, followed by a fellowship in aortic surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Board certified in vascular surgery, Dr. Ribe Bernal also is a fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery. In practice since 2006, he treats patients of all ages. Dr. Ribe also speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
His primary clinical interests are aortic disease, including aneurysms and dissections; endovascular and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (EVAR/TEVAR); fenestrated and branched endovascular aortic repair; carotid interventions; minimally invasive arterial interventions, including totally percutaneous endovascular aortic repair; endovascular interventions for lower extremity arterial disease; minimally invasive venous procedures; and onco-vascular procedures.
He listens to his patients carefully, treats them with respect and strives to provide them with high-level, patient-centered vascular surgery care. His patients value that he is accessible, easy to understand and deeply dedicated to them, in both office and hospital settings.
Dr. Ribe Bernal, who has authored and co-authored numerous book chapters and journal articles, is a member of the American Medical Association, American Association of Thoracic Surgery, American Heart Association and Association of International Vascular Surgeons.
A resident of the Texas Medical Center area, Dr. Ribe Bernal is married and the father of one daughter. In his leisure time, he likes to run and play soccer. In addition to his medical degree, he also has an advanced degree in music and enjoys listening to music and attending musical events and concerts.
