Dr. Claudia Hong graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she double majored in biology and communication. After college, she worked at the Make-A-Wish Foundation in San Francisco; she helped grant the wishes of children who have life- threatening illnesses, and it was through this experience that she realized she wanted to spend the rest of her life helping children and their families.
Dr. Hong earned her medical degree and Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and then completed her pediatric residency training at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston.
Dr. Hong provides comprehensive care, including well-child care, same-day sick visits and behavioral issues, to all children, from newborns to 18 years of age. She is passionate about helping new parents navigate the exciting-yet-daunting newborn period, spanning breastfeeding to sleeping, and everything in between.
As a mother herself, Dr. Hong can relate to concerns parents may have, making her easily approachable and able to anticipate questions and communicate effectively parent-to-parent. Dr. Hong feels it is important to encourage parents to actively participate in their children's care by working together as a team to ensure that their children grow up happy and healthy.
In her free time, Dr. Hong loves spending time with her husband, daughter and their two dachshunds. She also enjoys watching cooking shows, participating in church activities, traveling and barbecuing. She also is an in-house expert on all things “Paw Patrol,” “Moana” and “PJ Masks!”
She speaks conversational Chinese (Cantonese) and knows basic Mandarin and Spanish.
