Dr. Nan Wang, MD PHD

Dr. Nan Wang earned her medical degree and completed both a residency and fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Wang is a clinical associate professor and holds the Walter and Ruth Sterling Professorship in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School, where she has received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. She has also won the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Achievement Award and is a past president of the Houston Ophthalmological Society.

Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Wang’s clinical interests’ center on refractive, cornea and cataract surgery for patients of all ages. She specializes in laser vision correction (LASIK, PRK), lens implant for vision correction (ICL), cornea transplant (all kinds), and cataract surgery (including upgrade lens implant). Dr Wang is fluent in Chinese in addition to English. Her office staff members speak Spanish.

Dr. Wang, who has been in practice since 2001, believes in adopting innovative technology to provide the best care for each patient. As a member of the UTHealth faculty, she is able to integrate research, innovation and teaching into patient care. Known for her honesty, skill and compassion, Dr. Wang guides her patients through a thorough examination, followed by discussion about findings and options, including both medical and surgical treatments for eye disease.

A resident of West University Place, Dr. Wang is married to a physician and the mother of two children. In her leisure time, she enjoys travel and skiing.
